You'll need a device that can capture digital video content, whether it's a camcorder, cell phone, or webcam. You then copy the video to your computer using the cables and software supplied by the vendor of your video capturing device, and depending on the format, you might have to convert it into a format that our video processor can understand.
Not necessarily. As long as your video is in a format that our processor understands, it doesn't matter what you used to record the video!
If your video was recorded in HD format or is in a format that creates a large file (over 100 megabytes), then you may want to convert the file into a format that will fit within our file size constraints. If your video is not in a format that we can process, you may have video software at home that can convert the files into something that we can use. We recommend that you convert your video into a 640x480 MPEG4 file (Divx, Xvid, MP4) with 64K MP3 audio. Also, while we accept and can convert WMV files, converting them to MPEG4 on your end may reduce the number of artifacts in the files once we process them for the web.
We can currently process files which have the following video extensions:
...with the following video codecs:
... and the following audio codecs
At the top of every page there is an Upload link. Clicking on this link will bring you to the upload page, where you can fill out the appropriate information
Once you upload your video, it will be processed and flagged for review by our video processing software. One of our admins will then review the video and determine whether or not the quality and content meets our requirements. If they do, you will be able to view your video as soon as it is approved. You will receive a notification via email regarding the status of your video.
You will need to follow the instructions of your camcorder vendor for instructions on how to connect your camcorder to your PC, and then use the accompanying software to process the video into one of our accepted formats.
Any not on our list under "What video file formats are supported?." Also, we currently cannot process Quicktime files with AAC audio. We are working on a solution to this problem.
